What is ABA Therapy?

Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) is an evidence-based approach that helps individuals learn meaningful skills and reduce behaviors that may interfere with daily life. ABA focuses on understanding how behavior works in everyday situations and uses positive, individualized treatment plans to support growth, independence, and improved quality of life.

At Flourishing Hearts, our ABA services are never a one-size-fits-all approach. We tailor our services to each individual’s needs, strengths, and family goals. Therapy may focus on communication, social skills, daily living skills, emotional regulation, and school readiness, always with respect, compassion, and collaboration.

Families are an essential part of the process. We work closely with caregivers to ensure strategies can be integrated into daily routines, creating consistency and meaningful progress beyond therapy sessions. Our goal is to support individuals in developing skills that allow them to participate fully and confidently in their environments.

Complete a contact request

Start by submitting a contact request on our website to discuss your needs related to our ABA services. This will help us understand how we can assist you with an individualized treatment plan based on Applied Behavior Analysis principles. A team member will reach out to you within 24 hours.

Submit intake documents

After our initial contact, you will gain access to our intake forms. During this process, you may need to upload several documents, including your insurance cards, a referral for ABA services, and any diagnostic reports related to Applied Behavior Analysis. This information will help us create an individualized treatment plan tailored to your needs.

Verification of benefits

After we receive your documents, our team verifies your insurance benefits to determine coverage for ABA services, specifically for Applied Behavior Analysis. We will contact you to review your benefits, authorizations, and timelines related to your individualized treatment plan.

Initial assessment

After reviewing the benefits, a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) conducts a thorough evaluation to better understand your child's strengths and needs. This evaluation, which is essential for developing an individualized treatment plan, includes an interview, in-person observation, and planning for ABA services using Applied Behavior Analysis.

Treatment plan development

Using evaluation reports, we develop an individualized treatment plan that focuses on meaningful, client-centered goals as part of our ABA services. We complete this assessment and submit it for your review within 7 days from in-person contact. Once the initial assessment has been submitted to insurance, depending on the funding source, we will receive approval for Applied Behavior Analysis from 7 to 21 days.

Staffing

Once the individualized treatment plan is approved, we thoughtfully assign a clinical team based on your child’s unique needs, schedule, and service location for our ABA services. Before the start of these Applied Behavior Analysis services, your BCBA and RBT will be introduced to your family to ensure a strong and comfortable fit.

Start of services

Once staffing is complete, therapy sessions for Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA services) begin, supported by ongoing supervision and collaboration to foster progress. These services include direct therapy conducted by a Registered Behavior Technician (RBT), weekly supervision by a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) or Board Certified Assistant Behavior Analyst (BCaBA), and caregiver training, all tailored to an individualized treatment plan. Services can be provided in various settings, including the home, school, daycare, or community.
